HackHouston 2019 is a 24 hour event at Texas Southern University where hundreds of TECH and NON-TECH students will come together to brainstorm ideas, build software/hardware projects, and most of all, HAVE FUN! You take care of building. We'll take care of you.

WHAT IS HACKHOUSTON 2019?

HackHouston 2019 is a 24 hour event at Texas Southern University where hundreds of TECH and NON-TECH students will come together to brainstorm ideas, build software/hardware projects, and most of all, HAVE FUN! You take care of building. We'll take care of you.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

HackHouston is free for all admitted participants. We’ll have WiFi, food, workshops, and awesome swag during the entire 24 hours you’ll be with us.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A TEAM?

Participants are encouraged to work in teams, however, it is not mandatory. If you don’t have a teammate, we’ll hold a team-formation workshop where you can meet your new best friend. Also, 4 people per team is the limit.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

HackHouston is open to all undergraduate and graduate students of all backgrounds and skill levels. If you are not currently enrolled at Texas Southern University you must be 18 years of age or older by the date of HackHouston.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

A laptop, charger, and photo ID. You may also bring your own hardware. If you plan to stay over night we encourage you to bring sleeping gear and toiletries.

IS THERE A CODE OF CONDUCT?

Yes. We follow the MLH Code of Conduct

WHAT IF I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CODE?

That's OK. We will have mentors there to assist you with any problems you may and provide guidance as you work on your project.

CAN I USE PREVIOUS PROJECTS?

No. All projects submitted must be built from scratch. However, you are allowed and encouraged to brainstorm ideas beforehand. This rule does not apply to library tool or frameworks.

TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENTS?

Unfortunately there will be no travel reimbursements.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A VOLUNTEER?

Volunteers will help with serving and handling food, setting up equipment for the event, cleaning up after the event, and other similar tasks. If you are interested click the link below.
